As a Sr. Landscape Architect, you will be required to manage all phases of project management including design, construction, occupancy, quality control, staffing & budget management. The job requires an understanding of the practicalities, technical aspects and management processes of the Construction industry. Duties may encompass work from inception to construction close out. Procedural Practices-OBMI has in-house administration systems, which set out “good practice” procedures to follow (generally) based on the AIA (American Institute of Architects) systems of management for Projects Management. Projects vary in size and complexity, these projects are primarily large single-family residences, various types of commercial projects and interior fit outs. It expected that you would carry out the contract administration of projects using existing systems and assist in the development and enhancement of such systems.

As a Sr. Landscape Architect, you will be required to manage all projects from design inception to construction coordination.


  • Plan, design and manage open spaces including both natural and built environments.
  • Coordinating and producing large design development and construction drawing packages, project management and preparation of conservation management reports.
  • They work to provide innovative and aesthetically pleasing environments for people to enjoy, whilst ensuring that changes to the natural environment are appropriate, sensitive and sustainable.
  • The work covers diverse projects - both urban and rural - that range from designing the layout of parks, gardens and housing estates to city-centre design to improving land affected by mining or motorway construction.
  • Collaborate closely with landscape contractors, as well as other professionals, especially architects, planners, environmentalists and people working in surveying and engineering functions.
  • Overseeing the design of a variety of projects, including urban regeneration schemes, pedestrian schemes, road or retail schemes, and maintaining the character of sites of natural beauty;
  • Establishing general landscape requirements with clients;
  • Conducting preliminary studies of the site (including contours, soil, ecology, buildings, roads);
  • Assessing a site's potential to meet the client's specifications;
  • Carrying out environmental impact assessments;
  • Seeking and taking into account the views of local residents, potential users, and parties with a vested interest in the project;
  • Accurately preparing and presenting detailed plans and working drawings, including applications, construction details and specifications for the project using computer-aided design (CAD) packages or similar design software;
  • Presenting proposals to clients, dealing with enquiries and negotiating any amendments to final design;
  • Matching the client's wishes with your knowledge of what will work best;
  • Contacting and coordinating manufacturers and suppliers;
  • Putting work out to tender, selecting a contractor and manager (mainly for larger projects), and leading cross-functional teams;
  • Making site visits; ensuring deadlines are met; liaising with other professionals on the project; monitoring and checking work on-site (on large projects, landscape managers may do this type of supervisory work); authorising payment once work has been satisfactorily completed; & attending public inquiries to give evidence if necessary.
  • Generating new business opportunities.


  • Education: Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree from an accredited Landscape Architectural program.
  • Experience: Ten years of professional experience in management of Landscape Architecture projects with an emphasis on commercial, residential and hospitality design.
  • Chartered Landscape Architect with professional registration and membership to (ASLA) (CMLI) or similar preferred.    
  • Good presentation skills and the ability to coordinate projects from design to construction documents and coordinate international consultants and junior staff.
  • Must be outgoing and independent and have strong design skills.
  • Knowledge of LEED or accreditation and an interest in achieving sustainable environmental solutions are highly desirable.
  • Proof of experience in contract administration.
  • The job requires computer literacy in Word, Excel, and Outlook. Similarly, understanding Adobe products will be an asset.
  • Successful applicants will be proficient in AutoCad and Microsoft Office, construction document, production and coordination, assembly of detailed furniture bid packages and on-site management. Use of other design software tools will also be an asset.
  • A minimum of 10 years experience in conceptual design and working experience in commercial, large and small scale luxury residential, institutional, retail architecture and resort design.
  • A strong background with modern tropical / Caribbean style design experience will also be an asset.
  • Must have experience in Commercial Office fit-outs (mandatory), luxury residential and retail will be an asset.
  • Your duties will include on-site supervision for construction sites and varying levels.
